Excellent shoe for plastic AFOs!
Posted by Natcanu on 19th Jan 2015
I am a 40 year old with CMT. I recently changed from a carbon fiber AFO to a bulkier plastic AFO and was quite worried about finding a shoe to fit; the carbon fiber were so low key they would fit in most any shoe. When looking for a shoe for the plastic ones, I went through Aetrex as they are recommended by the CMTA. I noticed the heel strap on these Aetrex Women's Edge Runner Shoe and thought that those seem like they would be convenient. Boy was I right! The heel strap is so useful in sliding the shoe onto my AFOs and feet and they tighten back up just fine. I ordered a 1/2 size larger than my normal shoe and the wide width (D/E) and they are perfect! They are lightweight and my feet feel fine in them. I WILL definitely get another pair again someday!

Finally found a pair of shoes that makes my feet feel comfortable and experience no pain when I walk for long periods of time.

I wear AFO's and love the new feature on the back, the adjustable velcro strap.
I will only ever buy Aetrex from now on!

EXCELLENT shoes! The toe box is wide enough for me, and I only ordered the medium width. That is saying something because when I get shoes at New Balance, I have to get the wide width to accommodate my braces. I LOVE THESE SHOES and will not ever buy anything else other than Aetrex again! I am a believer!

Like the arch support and the fit of the shoe. However not sterdy for the ankles.

I already had a pair which was fitted by an orthotic shoe shop and they are working great... I love where you can adjust in the heel yourself but I may try a smaller width on my third pair to see if thereid a difference because I have the heel pulled as far asit can go... But the width in the toe is perfect and I have become an Aetrex customer
Love this shoe!

I have wide feet and can normally tell by looking at the mouth of a "wide" shoe if my foot will be comfortably fit. I was very pleased even before I put this shoe on. My foot went right in and fir wonderfully. They are wide enough and then some! I am beyond pleased with this shoe, and they are the most comfortable sneaker I have ever worn!
Finally a shoe with less foot pain.

I have had two surguries on my foot. Tarsel tunnel and then fibro-neuromas removed from the arch of the foot, along with a bone-spur this year. I have custom orthotics for my shoes but the pain was still there. I would walk on the outer edge of my foot. Not being able to find the right shoe I ordered my Aetrex on line,(doctor has them in his office also). I put my orthotics in and the difference is trully amazing. I can walk with my foot on the ground now. Made a big difference in just a week on how I was walking. Thinking about ordering another pair.
Best runner ever

This running shoe is the best I have found after trying Brooks, Nike, New Balance types. Very solid but comfortable sole with sleek lines that don't look like you are wearing two blocks of concrete. Heel strap nice added custom feature. I recommend this shoe highly.

I love the fit and comfort -- finally found a shoe that actually DOES make walking easier and I am experiencing much less discomfort. I like the adjustable heel -- Size was true fit.
