"I had been fitted with the L805 at a shoe store and it seemed wonderful so I ordered another pair direct from aetrex for my Brooks GTS 21 shoes I use for walking. Then I began having heel pain in one foot so I’m not sure if it’s the orthotic ? - I am a man with a normal to high arch and a podiatrist recommended the L405 for metatarsal pain. But because I need a pair for my cycling shoes and hiking boots, should I get the L805 train?
- Hi Robert, If you were initially recommended the L405 and you need a different style, you should get one with the same configuration (the last 2 numbers should be the same). In this case, since you prefer the Train Orthotics, you should go with the L805 as both are designed to support those with medium to high arches with metatarsal pain or discomfort.
- Sorry, another question: I have medium to high arches and on advice from my podiatrist have been wearing the Aetrex L405 for everyday walking plus in my bicycle shoes (I clip into Look pedals) and in my hiking boots. Now the representative in the Aetrex chat has recommended the L805, but the description calls them Gym/Training inserts. Are L805 also the best for cycling shoes and hiking boots, or should I stick to L405? Thanks
- Hi Robert, While both orthotics provide excellent support, if you only prefer to get one style for all your activities, we recommend the L405 which is more versatile, featuring a Pro-Shox polyurethane center which helps absorb shock and reduce impact.

- Hi Phil, We typically recommend sizing down in orthotics if you're in between sizes. However, given that you wear 2E, you may want to go with size 11US so it's slightly wider at the forefoot.
- Hello, I am 71 years old and extremely flat feet and my feet have gotten larger as I've aged. I have occasional Arch pain and in particularly I have first metatarsal phalangeal joint pain which sometimes it wears out art supports in that one point. I have added a 3/8 in soft panel underneath the orthotic and that's been very helpful. What type of orthotic would you recommend for further comfort and protection fee. I train 3
