Orthotics for Bunions

Orthotics for Bunions

A bunion is a prominent bump on the inside of the foot around the big toe joint. Some of the symptoms of bunions include inflammation, swelling, soreness or pain in the bunion area. The problem can develop from an abnormality in foot function, or arthritis, but is more commonly caused by wearing improper fitting footwear that is narrow or tight in the toe area.

To help alleviate the pain associated with bunions, it is recommended to wear shoes with a wide toe area to accommodate the deformity. Orthotics are also recommended to help reduce bunion pain and increase the toe’s mobility. These orthotics can help correct the alignment and alleviate the pressure on the affected joint.
